Marc-André
Léger is widely recognized among musicians and aficionados
alike as a solid innovator of the blues medium. His on stage
presence is characterized by high-energy musical wizardry stretching
from Robert Johnson to James Brown to Jimi Hendrix. As a songwriter
and arranger, Marc-André is expressive and enthusiastic,
charming fans across Atlantic Canada, Québec, Ontario,
Switzerland and France in july 2007.
Since 1993,
Marc-André has lead two bands and developed a strong solo
act. Early influences included Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jimi Hendrix.
His first semiprofessional band, The Bitter Blues Band, gained
strong recognition in Québec, opening for acts such as
Big Jack Johnson and Big Sugar. A move to Moncton, in 1998 saw
to the forming of Blues Central, performing up to a 100 gigs
annually. Working with these two bands has been formative as
a musician and as a bandleader. With over ten years of band experience
Marc-André demonstrates sound professionalism on stage
and off.
Over time Marc-André's
influences have broadened. His stage presence and approach is
reminiscent of artists such as, Jimi Hendrix, James Brown, Jimmy
Vaughan and Albert Colins. His musical ability demonstrates a
strong understanding of blues artists from the 20's, 30's and
40's, (Charlie Patton, Robert Johnson, Leadbelly, Blind Boy Fuller,
to name a few). As both a bandleader and solo artist, Marc-André
brings his energy for blues and blues offspring to the stage,
creating a frenzy of tight arrangements and intricate guitar
work.
